Outreach
In addition to the services we offer in the hub, our herd head out into the community providing subsidised outreach services in schools and other venues. Offering a professional standard of expertise, we deliver a range of therapeutic services such as; Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Theraplay, Filial Therapy and Therapuetic Life Story work. We offer a range of packages and work with you to find the most suitable one to meet your requirements as a family, organisation or school
Jumbo - Full day
Jumbo was an African elephant (7Ft, 7Ton) described as a happy, smiley elephant despite the difficulties he faced. His name became a synonym for anything gigantic. He was the inspiration for the movie Dumbo.
A fully qualified BAPT Registered Play Therapist will be allocated to provide a subsidised* Play Therapy provision (approximately 7-8 hours on site) for up to 4 children per week throughout the academic year at your school including;
- Full assessment and completion of outcome measuring tools
- Sessional work with four children per week
- Regular parent/carer review meeting
- Written reports
- Email and telephone support for parent/ carers and school staff

Ruby - Half day
Ruby joined the zoo as a 7-month-old baby from Thailand. As the only elephant, she was lonely and bored and soon found sticks to make marks in the dirt. Given and easel and paint she is now famous for her paintings.
A fully qualified BAPT Registered Play Therapist will be allocated to provide a subsidised* Play Therapy provision (approximately 3 1⁄2 – 4 hours on site) for up to 2 children per week throughout the academic year at your school including;
- Full assessment and completion of outcome measuring tools
- Sessional work with two children per week
- Regular parent/ carer review meeting
- Written reports
- Email and telephone support for parent/ carers and school staff

Surus: Individual
A large Asian elephant with one tusk – his war wound (218BC). He survived hunger, sickness and extreme cold crossing the Alps. He was the most resilient and only survivor of the 37 strong legion, wearing a red cloth and carrying a shield.

Our Play Therapy interventions are generally booked in blocks of 12 sessions.
Kandula: Bespoke
Captured in the forest near to the palace in Sri Lanka, he was one of the many gifts offered at the royal birth and named after the fisherman who found him (101BC). He grew up alongside the prince and remained his companion throughout his reign.
A mix of services including individual sessions, Theraplay, Filial or group work and Parenting training.
