Play Therapy is a form of child psychotherapy that helps children express thoughts and feelings through play rather than words. For many children, play is their most natural way of communicating. Toys, creative materials and symbolic play become the child’s language.
Play Therapy provides a safe, consistent and child-led space where children can explore emotions, process difficult experiences and develop healthier ways of coping. Over time, children may show improvements in emotional regulation, confidence, self-esteem, concentration and relationships at home and at school.
Play Therapy can support children who are experiencing anxiety, trauma, attachment difficulties, behavioural challenges, emotional distress or significant life changes.
Sessions take place in a dedicated therapeutic space and are led at the child’s pace. Children are supported by the same qualified Play Therapist throughout their therapy, helping to build trust and safety. The therapist carefully observes and responds to the child’s play in a way that supports understanding, healing and emotional growth.
Parents and carers are an important part of the therapeutic journey. Regular review meetings are offered to share progress, provide guidance and ensure the therapy continues to meet the child’s needs.
“Children don’t need to have the words, they can express it through their play”
