Meet Paul, one of our incredible Charity Champions
Paul’s life has been shaped by resilience. After losing both of his birth parents at the age of two, he spent his early years in care before being adopted at five. Despite facing significant challenges throughout his childhood, Paul has channelled those experiences into compassion, empathy and a desire to help others, understanding first-hand how important support can be during difficult times.
Although he had overcome many challenges, Paul admits that until his early thirties he was still struggling with destructive patterns and searching for direction. Fifteen years ago, he discovered running, and what started as exercise became an important way of managing his mental health, helping him build confidence, strength and purpose.
“You have to accept that you need the help. It’s not going to stop the pain, but it can help you cope with the pain.”
Today, Paul is a husband, father, team manager and wellbeing champion at John Lewis, founder of a workplace running club and a passionate advocate for mental health.
Paul believes everything happens for a reason. It was through About The Run, one of our charity partners, that he first discovered PEP. After learning more about our work, he felt an immediate connection to our mission of supporting children and families through life’s challenges.
This year, Paul is taking on the Rat Race 100-mile Ultra Marathon to raise funds and awareness for PEP, helping more children and families access our support services.
“Life is what you make it. You control your own destiny.”
We’re incredibly proud to have Paul as part of the Herd and grateful for the passion, determination and hope he brings to our community.
